Mini-post: “Ruthless users”
13Aug09
In this relatively old BBC interview, Jakob Nielsen, the usability guru, describes the decline in patience exhibited by users: According to Nielson, “Instead of dawdling on websites many users want simply to reach a site quickly, complete a task and leave,” says the BBC.
“People want sites to get to the point, they have very little patience,” said Nielsen.
My previous post–Bottom up: Increased Expectations of Systems–echos this sentiment. Users are savvy and have increasing expectations of how systems can improve the way they perform their jobs.
